Accessibility automation information for OTs and support coordinators
RE Electronics provides accessibility-focused home automation services including automated lighting, motorised blinds, voice control and remote appliance control.
This page is for occupational therapists, support coordinators and others helping a person explore a practical home-control requirement. An initial enquiry can focus on the person's chosen functional goal and the installation questions, without sharing clinical records.
Useful information for an initial enquiry
Where the person has agreed to the enquiry, a short description can include:
- The suburb where the installation is proposed.
- The home function the person wants to control.
- The existing equipment or controls, if known.
- The person's preferred type of control, if identified.
- Whether there are known property or installation constraints.
- Your role and the preferred contact details for the enquiry.
Please avoid diagnoses, NDIS participant numbers, plan documents or clinical reports in the public website form. If further information is required, confirm an appropriate way to provide it before sharing it.
Keep clinical, technical and funding questions separate
An occupational therapist's assessment or functional recommendations are distinct from equipment compatibility and installation requirements. An installation enquiry does not establish that a particular product is clinically suitable or that funding will be approved.
Any NDIS funding questions need to be considered against the person's individual circumstances and the current NDIS requirements. RE Electronics' website does not determine eligibility or approval.
Start with a defined functional goal
A clear description such as “operate the bedroom light from the usual resting position” is more useful for an initial conversation than a broad request to “make the home smart”. It allows the practical requirement to be discussed without assuming a particular brand or a whole-home system.
